In a recent interview with 60 Minutes Australia, aired on March 30th, Rebecca Loos, the former assistant to David Beckham, who previously asserted she had a four-month-long affair with him over two decades ago, has doubled down on her earlier allegations with renewed conviction. The Dutch model-turned-assistant, who worked closely with Beckham in 2003, asserts that she has remained steadfast in her truth since she first accused the soccer icon of having an extramarital affair while he was married to Victoria Beckham.
Representatives for David Beckham did not promptly respond to a request for comment from PEOPLE on March 30th. The now 49-year-old soccer star has previously dismissed Loos' accusations as "ludicrous," stating so in a response to The Guardian two decades ago.
"It took immense courage to confront them," shared Loos, now 47, with 60 Minutes Australia. "I have clung to the truth. I have never embellished my story. I have never fabricated a single detail."
"Why? Because I was facing the most formidable and influential couple in the media, who had access to the world's best PR firms and legal representation. All I had was the unwavering truth on my side," she added poignantly.
Loos, who is now married to a doctor and is a mother of two teenage boys, began her tenure with Beckham shortly after his transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid in July 2003. Following her termination, she alleged in an interview with News of the World in April 2004 that she and Beckham had indulged in a four-month-long affair. At the time, David and Victoria had been married for five years and had welcomed two children into their family before Loos joined their circle. David, however, firmly denied the allegations.
"In recent months, I've become accustomed to reading increasingly absurd tales about my personal life," David remarked during that period. "Today's story is merely another illustration of this."
"The undeniable truth is that I am blissfully married to a wonderful wife and have two extraordinary children," he emphasized. "No third party can alter this reality."
Reflecting on her accusations now, Loos described her role in Madrid in 2003 as the "first face they saw in the morning and the last they saw at night." Reasserting her claims, she revealed that Victoria was away when David allegedly invited her to a hotel, a temptation she succumbed to.
"I was utterly enchanted by every clichéd word he fed me, hook, line, and sinker," Loos recounted. "Yet, merely two weeks hence, we found ourselves at Ronaldo's birthday bash, and there he was, off with this stunning model. I was left utterly speechless, thinking, 'Uh...' That night was particularly challenging for me. I was puzzled, muttering to myself, 'Uh, I just don't get it.' The realization gradually dawned on me that I had been severely deceived."
Loos revealed to 60 Minutes Australia that she chose to speak out publicly after rumors of an affair splashed across the British media because she firmly believed, "It's always better coming from me; I retain some semblance of control."
Two decades later, in the 2023 four-part documentary series titled Beckham, the soccer legend delved into a turbulent phase in his marriage to Victoria. During the series, Victoria termed her husband's transfer to Real Madrid as "the happiest I've never been in my entire life." Notably, neither of them mentioned Loos or her allegations in the series, directed by Fisher Stevens.
"It felt as though the entire world was arrayed against us," Victoria shared in the documentary. "And to be honest, we were at odds with each other too."
"We faced horrendous stories that were incredibly tough to handle," David added in the series. "It was the first time Victoria and I had endured such intense pressure in our marriage. Each morning, we woke up to yet another ordeal. We both felt, not that we were losing each other, but drowning."
According to Loos, numerous horrendous stories circulated about both her and Victoria at the time, but never about David, whom she claimed was unaffected, alleging, "Nothing in his life changed."
"I believe all that took a significant toll on my mental health; it was traumatic, though I didn't acknowledge it as such because I wanted to appear brave and strong," Loos continued. "However, some of it did渗透进我的心灵, and it took time to recover."
Loos has since shifted careers and is now a certified yoga and meditation instructor. 60 Minutes Australia also noted that she works as a medical assistant. David and Victoria have been married since 1999, sharing three sons—Brooklyn, Cruz, and Romeo—and their youngest daughter, Harper.
