Demi Lovato is back with a vengeance, embracing life at breakneck speed. On Thursday night, the director of "The Child Star" unveiled her latest single, "Fast," the pioneering track from her forthcoming ninth studio album. Lovato had been whetting fans' appetites on social media throughout the month, culminating in the song's official announcement. In a mid-July Instagram post, the multifaceted artist lip-synced to the song's suggestive lyrics, crooning, "'Cause baby honestly / I just wanna feel your hands all over me / Over and over / Right where they wanna be / Even if it’s only for tonight," painting a vivid picture of desire and intensity.
Accompanying the release was a dynamic music video, where Lovato exuded confidence as she sauntered amidst a backdrop of blazing cars, belting out the chorus with fervor: "I wanna go fast / I wanna go hard / I wanna go anywhere, anywhere you are." The title track, "Fast," marks Lovato's triumphant return to pop music, having delved into rock territory with her previous album, "Holy Fvck." Her ninth album will be helmed by esteemed music producer Zhone, who has previously collaborated with the likes of Kesha, Troye Sivan, and Charli XCX.
Sharing his thoughts with Rolling Stone, Zhone exclaimed, "Working with Demi has been nothing short of inspiring, witnessing her relentless pursuit of excellence. She truly shines in the studio. This album embodies the spirit of letting go of inhibitions, and creating this music was an absolute blast! It resonates throughout every note."
Lovato's most recent venture, "Revamped," saw her breathing new life into her extensive discography by revamping and remixing beloved tracks. The arrival of "Fast" follows almost a year after Lovato made her directorial debut with the insightful documentary "Child Star," which offered a glimpse into the tumultuous journey of growing up in the public eye through the stories of renowned former child stars, featuring interviews with Drew Barrymore, JoJo Siwa, Christina Ricci, Kenan Thompson, Raven-Symoné, and Alyson Stoner, among others.
Adding yet another chapter to her illustrious life, Lovato recently tied the knot with Jordan "Jutes" Luts earlier this year, marking yet another milestone in her eventful journey.
