Did North West Get a Finger Piercing? Why Kim Kardashian Fans Are Convinced

North West seemingly sports a new piercing, stirring up quite a buzz. The 12-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye "Ye" West has captivated the public's attention after making a fashionable debut with a striking dermal piercing adorning her right middle finger.

On August 23, North stepped out in Rome alongside her mother Kim, donning a chic ensemble that included a black corset, a layered skirt, and platform boots. Her waist-length blue hair, reminiscent of her aunt Kylie Jenner's "King Kylie" era, turned heads, but it was her fresh, single-point piercing that truly left an indelible mark.

Understandably, social media users had plenty to say about Kim's decision to allow North to get the piercing, a procedure that, according to California state law, necessitates the presence of a parent or legal guardian. One Reddit user lamented, "This is just sad, and it further fuels the narrative that Kim has little control over her kids." Another described the piercing as "actually so fucking disturbing," adding, "Any piercer who would perform such a procedure on a 12-year-old, even with parental consent, should have their license revoked. Dermal piercings carry a higher risk of rejection and infection, especially when located on the hand."

Elsewhere, someone on X dubbed it "bad parenting," while others condemned the piercer for their irresponsibility.

This isn't the first time Kim's parenting style has raised eyebrows. Recently, the Kardashians star caused a stir when she proclaimed her disbelief in homework. "I'm going to tell you why," Kim explained during a livestream appearance on Kai Cenat's Mafiathon 3. "Kids are in school for eight hours a day. When they return home, they engage in sports, lead full lives, and bond with their families. I believe homework should remain a school-only responsibility."

Kim isn't the only Kardashian with unconventional views on children's education. Her sister Kourtney Kardashian, who shares Mason Disick, 15, Penelope Disick, 13, and Reign Disick, 10, with ex-partner Scott Disick, as well as 22-month-old Rocky Barker with Travis Barker, recently expressed her belief that attending school is outdated. "I love to go against the grain," she told her sister Khloe during a May episode of Khloe's podcast, Khloe in Wonder Land. "I think living authentically means not conforming to the norm. It's like questioning why kids even go to school in the first place."
