Engaged to Zendaya, Tom Holland, the esteemed Marvel actor who has taken center stage in the latest LEGO film, has opened up about his personal battles with ADHD and dyslexia. In a thoughtful conversation with IGN, Holland delved into how the film's empowering message of "never stop playing" has profoundly impacted his mental well-being.
The Uncharted star shared, "I firmly believe that play truly serves as a balm. With ADHD and dyslexia, I often find myself confronted with a blank slate, feeling a hint of intimidation. It's a challenge I encounter even while developing a character," he admitted.
Holland further elaborated, embracing the notion of tapping into his inner child through play to gear up for any role thrown his way. "Whether you're a youngster or an adult, engaging in activities that stimulate creativity, encourage out-of-the-box thinking, and inspire change is invaluable. The more we immerse ourselves in such endeavors, the richer our lives become," he enthusiastically continued.
Earlier, the 29-year-old talent had disclosed his struggle with dyslexia, a condition he was diagnosed with at the tender age of seven. "My dyslexia mainly manifests in my spelling," he explained during a guest appearance on Jay Shetty's On Purpose. Paying tribute to his parents for their unwavering support, Holland recounted, "My spelling was a colossal hurdle. I put in relentless effort at school, albeit without exceptional results. But my parents' mantra was, 'As long as you give your best.'"
Currently, Holland is immersed in two monumental projects: Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, slated for a July 17, 2026 release, and Marvel's Spider-Man: Brand New Day, premiering just two weeks later on July 31, 2026.
