Diego Calva, who stole the spotlight in Damien Chazelle's Babylon and captivated audiences in Netflix's Narcos: Mexico, has been casted as the leading man in the highly anticipated second season of BBC and Prime Video's The Night Manager. Joining him are the previously announced stars, Tom Hiddleston and Camila Morrone, in a sequel that promises to be every bit as thrilling as the first.

Inspired by the characters from John le Carré's blockbuster novel, the upcoming season of The Night Manager will once again be penned by the show's creator, David Farr, and directed by BAFTA winner Georgi Banks-Davies, whose credits include I Hate Suzie and Paper Girls. While details surrounding Calva's character and the season's intricate plot remain tightly under wraps, one thing is certain - excitement is building to a feverish pitch.

Season 1, which premiered in 2016, was a smash hit, captivating millions of viewers and winning multiple BAFTAs, Emmys, and Golden Globes, including Best Actor for Hiddleston. Led by Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie, the series followed Jonathan Pine, a luxurious hotelier in Cairo, as he embarked on a daring mission to infiltrate the inner sanctum of a crime syndicate, all while working undercover for Foreign Office task force manager Angela Burr. Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander, and Elizabeth Debicki also starred in this critically acclaimed thriller.

News of a new season was exclusively confirmed by Deadline in April, and fans have been eagerly awaiting its arrival. The Night Manager's new seasons will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK, while global audiences outside the UK will be able to stream it on Prime Video. The deal was negotiated by Fifth Season, who handles the global distribution of the series.

In addition to Farr, the executive producers include Stephen Garrett for Character 7, Georgi Banks-Davies, Hugh Laurie, and Tom Hiddleston. Joe Tsai and Arthur Wang from 127 Wall, Stephen and Simon Cornwell, Michele Wolkoff, and Tessa Inkelaar from The Ink Factory, Adrián Guerra from Nostromo Pictures, William D. Johnson from Demarest Films, Nick Cornwell, Susanne Bier, Chris Rice from Fifth Season, and Gaynor Holmes from the BBC are also part of the production team. The series is produced by The Ink Factory, in association with Character 7, Demarest Films, and 127 Wall, and in co-production with Nostromo Pictures.

Calva, who recently shined as Manny Torres in Babylon and stole the show as Arturo Bertrán Leyva in Season 3 of Narcos: Mexico, is set to take his talent to new heights in this upcoming installment of The Night Manager. Upcoming, he will star alongside Jacob Elordi and Daisy Edgar Jones in Daniel Minahan's On Swift Horses, promising yet another memorable performance.

Represented by Lumina Management in Mexico and by WME, Entertainment 360, and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof and Fishman in the US, Calva is poised to make a lasting impression on the small screen with his portrayal in The Night Manager's second season.
