Dolly Parton postpones shows over 'health challenges'

Dolly Parton has made the difficult decision to postpone her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency by nine months, informing her devoted fans that she requires "a few procedures" to address ongoing "health challenges." In a heartfelt statement shared across her social media platforms, the 79-year-old country music icon explained that she would not have sufficient time to properly rehearse for the six scheduled shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, originally set for December.

"I just need a little time to get show-ready, as they say," she penned, revealing the rescheduled dates for September 2026. "And don't you worry about me hanging up my microphone for good—God hasn't whispered a word about me calling it quits yet," she added with a wink.

In a playful yet candid tone, Parton quipped, "It's not the usual trip to my plastic surgeon, I'll tell you that!" While she chose not to delve into the specifics of her health issues, she recently had to cancel her appearance at a Dollywood event after being diagnosed with a kidney stone that caused her "a whole lot of trouble." "Turns out, it gave me an infection," she shared in a video message to disappointed fans who had gathered for the event on September 17. "The doctor said, 'You don't need to be traveling right now; you need a few days to recover.'"

Earlier this year, Parton experienced the profound loss of her beloved husband, Carl, after nearly six decades of marriage. In his honor, she later dedicated a poignant new song, "If You Hadn't Been There," to his memory.

Announcing the postponement of her six-date Las Vegas residency, Parton stated directly, "I want my fans and the public to hear straight from me that, unfortunately, I'll need to reschedule my upcoming Las Vegas concerts." She continued, "As many of you know, I've been navigating some health challenges, and my doctors have advised me that I must undergo a few procedures."

With a touch of humor, she remarked, "I joked with them that it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up—though, to be clear, it's not the usual visit to my plastic surgeon!" In a more serious vein, she explained, "Given this, I won't be able to rehearse and deliver the show I envision for you, the show you deserve."

"You pay good money to see me perform," she emphasized, "and I want to be at my absolute best for you."

Renowned for her string of country crossover hits, including "Coat of Many Colors," "I Will Always Love You," "9 To 5," and "Jolene," Parton had planned to perform these classics alongside dozens of fan favorites in Las Vegas. The residency would have marked her first return to the Strip since the 1990s when she shared the stage with her "Islands In The Stream" duet partner, Kenny Rogers.

For those who have already purchased tickets, they will remain valid for the new dates, with refunds also available for those who prefer.
