Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran stood by Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco's side on their momentous wedding day. Swift, 35, and Sheeran, 34, both delivered heartfelt speeches during Gomez, 33, and Blanco's wedding reception in California on Saturday, Sept. 27, a source revealed to PEOPLE. (The musicians are all close friends, and Sheeran and Blanco, 37, have collaborated on several albums together.)
Other speakers at the wedding included Gomez's mother, Mandy Teefey, and her stepfather, Brian Teefey, as well as Blanco's parents, Sandra and Andrew Levin, the insider disclosed. "At the reception, everyone let loose and celebrated the couple well into the night," the source recounted. "The atmosphere was incredibly lively and fun."
"They radiated happiness all night, and both Selena and Benny couldn't wipe the smiles off their faces. There was an overwhelming amount of love in the room," they added.
Gomez announced her marriage to Blanco by sharing an Instagram post filled with photos and clips from the wedding. In her caption, she simply wrote, " 9.27.25." Blanco later shared his own images from the special day, gushing, "I married a real-life Disney princess," on his Instagram account.
Among the other guests at the wedding were Steve Martin and Martin Short, who also gave a joint speech at the rehearsal dinner, along with Paul Rudd, Paris Hilton, SZA, Camila Cabello, Cara Delevingne, Eric Andre, and Finneas. Gomez's "Emilia Perez" co-stars Edgar Ramirez and Zoe Saldaña were also present, as were some members of her "Wizards of Waverly Place" family.
From the start, Swift has shown unwavering support for Gomez's relationship with Blanco, from gifting the couple homemade sourdough to sharing sweet sentiments online. After the "Only Murders in the Building" star announced her engagement on Instagram on Dec. 11, 2024, Swift was quick to comment, "Yes, I will be the flower girl," she wrote.
Gomez reciprocated the love when Swift announced her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce on Aug. 26. The following day, the "Wizards of Waverly Place" alum reshared the engagement photos on her Instagram Stories, captioning them, "When bestie gets engaged."
The actress and singer also reshared some love advice Swift had tweeted her in April 2009, which read, "Real love still happens sometimes. It's not just something we make up when we're nine. I have to believe that. You do too."
While appearing on Spotify’s "Countdown to," Gomez and Blanco opened up about how one of the first parties they attended together was one Swift threw after an awards show. Blanco noted that at the time, "No one knew we were dating, and we were hiding."
Swift has been friends with Gomez since they both dated a Jonas brother back in 2008 (the "Cruel Summer" singer was seeing Joe Jonas while Gomez was linked to Nick Jonas). “Taylor and I dated the Jonas Brothers,” Gomez told Jake Shane of how she and Swift first met during her appearance on the influencer's Aug. 7 "Therapuss with Jake Shane" podcast episode. “I dated Nick, and she dated Joe. And everything was, it was cute, we were young. We all know and love each other now, and it’s so cute. We didn’t know what we were doing — She and I like to say the best thing we got out of those relationships was each other because it was really sweet.”
Gomez went on to share that she was around 15 and Swift was around 18 when they dated Nick, now 33, and Joe, now 36, and reflected on how it was a time “when it was the crazy curly-haired Taylor, and she had all these bracelets that went all the way up.”
Gomez said the pair went on to become “best friends” as they “bonded over the breakup, as girls do.” “And then we just stuck around for all the ups and downs that came after, and here we are now, 16 years later,” she added.
Over the years, the stars have celebrated each other on various occasions — from marking their birthdays to promoting each other's latest music releases — as well as cheering each other on at award shows.
More recently, on May 31, Swift and Gomez reunited for a girls' night out in New York City. The outing in the Big Apple came shortly after Swift announced that she finally owns her masters, allowing her to once again be in control of her music catalog after a public ownership feud involving record executive Scooter Braun. When Swift publicly announced her masters ownership on Instagram, Gomez celebrated her BFF, writing in an Instagram Stories post, “Yes, you did that, Tay. So proud!”
