Donald Trump Disses Taylor Swift During Eagles' White House Visit

Published: Apr 29 2025

President Donald Trump vividly recalls the 2025 Super Bowl with striking clarity. He harbors doubts that Taylor Swift, who embarked on a high-profile romance with Chiefs player Travis Kelce in 2023, served as a blessing for the Kansas City team, which suffered defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles during the championship game on February 9. Indeed, Trump took a swipe at Swift during the Eagles' visit to the White House on April 28, remarking, "I witnessed it firsthand," he said, referring to his unique experience as the first incumbent president to attend the prestigious event. "I was present alongside Taylor Swift; how did that arrangement pan out? Really, what was the outcome?"

His comment seemingly alluded to Swift, who had come to cheer for the Chiefs despite growing up as an Eagles fan, receiving a frosty reception at the Super Bowl. When her image flashed on the jumbotron during a televised segment, the audience's audible booing echoed through the stadium. Moreover, this was not the first instance when Trump commented on Swift's Super Bowl appearance.

"The only individual who had a tougher evening than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift," Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social on the night of the game. "She was booed out of the stadium. MAGA is famously unyielding!"

Yet, despite the haters' relentless criticism, many rallied to the defense of the Grammy-winning artist. "My heart goes out to the most renowned, incredible woman in the world who, for heaven's sake, gets booed at the Super Bowl," sportscaster Erin Andrews lamented during a February 11 episode of her and Charissa Thompson's podcast Calm Down With Erin and Charissa. "Get out of here with that!" Charissa added, "She handles everything with such poise, and so does Travis. He deals with this situation so gracefully."
