Content warning: This narrative delves into topics of suicide and sexual abuse. Doubts are emerging among some acquaintances of Virginia Giuffre regarding the circumstances surrounding her demise.

Three days after Giuffre's family members disclosed that the 41-year-old, who had accused Jeffrey Epstein of trafficking her to Prince Andrew for sexual encounters during her teenage years, had taken her own life at her home in Australia, her father, Sky Roberts, called for an official investigation. Citing previous social media posts where Giuffre expressed no suicidal thoughts, Roberts told TMZ in an article published on April 28 that police should delve deeper into the matter.

Similarly, Giuffre's attorney harbored significant reservations about the passing of the Speak Out, Act, Reclaim (SOAR) founder. "When I received the phone call, my immediate reaction was, 'Are you kidding me?'" Karrie Louden revealed in an interview with The Sun, published on April 28. "Because there were absolutely no indications that she was contemplating such an act." Louden contended that although Giuffre had been enduring immense pain in recent times, she had been looking forward to future endeavors. The attorney further stated, "There's a fine line between suicide and a tragic misadventure."

Giuffre passed away in Neergabby, a rural farming region in Western Australia, according to a family statement obtained by NBC News on April 25. "After being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking, Virginia lost her life to suicide," the statement read. "She was a fierce warrior in the battle against these heinous crimes, serving as a beacon of hope for countless survivors. Virginia was the light that illuminated the path for many."

The statement continued, "Ultimately, the weight of the abuse she endured became too burdensome for her to bear."

Giuffre's demise occurred weeks after she had shared that she had been involved in a severe car accident, with doctors informing her that she had mere days to live. "I'm in kidney failure," Giuffre, who shared three children with her estranged husband, Robert Giuffre, posted on Instagram on March 30. "I'm ready to go, just not until I see my babies one last time, but as they say, wishes are often in vain."

However, Giuffre was eventually discharged from the hospital, her representative confirmed to People on April 7.

As for the men she accused, Epstein took his own life in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges in jail. Andrew, who vehemently denied any wrongdoing, reached an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre in 2022 after she filed a lawsuit against him for sexual abuse.
