**"Iceman" Album Release: A Meltdown of Anticipation**

Drake has officially announced that his ninth studio album, "Iceman," is slated for release on May 15. Waiting for the official release date of Drake's "Iceman" was like watching ice melt—a process that seemed to take an eternity. On Monday, he revealed that he had buried the album's release date in blocks of ice in Toronto, as a promotional stunt for the record. The following day, a streamer named Kishka unearthed a bag from the ice blocks and made the journey to Drake's house, where he opened the contents to reveal the date. Drake later confirmed on social media that the album would indeed be arriving on May 15.

The anticipation for this project began as far back as 2024, when he referenced Val Kilmer's character in "Top Gun," who was nicknamed "Iceman." Soon after, he shared a screenshot of a folder titled "2.0 – Iceman," which was presumed to contain songs for the record.

In July 2025, Drake began to concretely tease the album with his livestream "Iceman Episode 1" on YouTube. During the stream, he previewed several songs, including "What Did I Miss?," which was released to streaming platforms the following day. He followed up with two more livestreams where he debuted new tracks and instrumentals, including "Which One" featuring Central Cee and "Dog House" featuring Julia Wolf and Yeat, both of which were also released to streaming platforms.

"Iceman" marks Drake's first full-length solo outing since 2023's "For All the Dogs" and his highly publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar. In August 2024, he released a massive folder of unreleased music, studio footage, and behind-the-scenes clips, along with three songs: "It's Up" featuring Young Thug and 21 Savage, "Housekeeping Knows" featuring Latto, and "Blue Green Red." A few weeks later, he released three other new songs—"Circadian Rhythm," "SOD," and "No Face" featuring Playboi Carti—via his Instagram burner account @plottttwistttttt.

In February 2025, he teamed up with PartyNextDoor for the collaborative album "Some Sexy Songs 4 U," which spawned the hit single "Nokia." A song from the record, "Somebody Loves Me," was nominated for melodic rap performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
