Drew Scott, the star of Property Brothers, is mourning the loss of his wife, Linda Phan's mother, Habu. On Thursday, February 5th, the HGTV host, aged 47, took to social media to announce the passing of his mother-in-law.
"My heart is shattered," Scott wrote in the caption of a carousel of photos. "We have lost one of the most beautiful, kind, and selfless people this planet has ever seen. Linda's mom is truly one of a kind and was taken from us far too soon."
In the collection of images, the TV realtor shared special moments spent with Habu over the years. The first slide featured a photo of Scott, Linda, Habu, and his mother, Joanne Scott. Other images showed Habu spending time with some of her grandkids, Parker and Piper, Scott and Linda's two children.
"Thank you, Habu, for bringing so much light to our lives. Your infectious laugh will always be remembered, and I will always remember our late nights playing your favorite game, 四色牌遊戲 [four color cards]," he said.
Scott added that he feels "helpless in trying to comfort Linda and her family," but knows "memories of all the beautiful times with Habu will live on with us forever."
"You were always there for us and all 10 grandkids," he said. "The hardest thing for me is knowing we won't have you here to see Parker and Piper grow into strong and compassionate adults like you. I love you. I miss you."
In the comments, famous friends, family, and fans offered their love and support during this difficult time. Scott's twin brother and HGTV co-star Jonathan Scott wrote: "What a loving soul through and through. May we always remember and feel the love she shared." Viola Davis commented: "So very sorry." Married to Real Estate alum Egypt Sherrod wrote: "Oh no, I am so sorry for your loss. Please give Linda my love."
No further details regarding Habu's death have been shared, and Linda has yet to publicly speak out on the matter. Drew and Linda first met during the Toronto Fashion Week in 2010 and began dating shortly afterwards. In December 2016, after six years of dating, Scott proposed with an elaborate proposal at Toronto's Piano Piano restaurant. The couple officially tied the knot on May 4th, 2018, during an outdoor ceremony in Italy. In May 2022, Scott and Linda welcomed their first child, Parker James Scott, on their fourth wedding anniversary. Two years later they delivered a baby girl named Piper Rae on May 21st, 2024.
