Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence's offspring have officially embarked on a lifelong partnership. Eric Murphy, whom Eddie shares with his ex-partner Paulette McNeely, and Jasmin Lawrence, Martin's daughter from his marriage to Patricia Southall, quietly exchanged vows approximately "two weeks ago," as revealed by the "Dreamgirls" veteran on May 29th.
"They veered off the beaten path – everyone else was busy crafting grand wedding schemes," Eddie elaborated during his guest appearance on "The Jennifer Hudson Show." "Instead, they opted for an intimate ceremony, just the two of them." Eddie couldn't resist a chuckle, adding, "Martin doesn't have to foot the wedding bill now!"
The couple's understated ceremony came on the heels of their November 2024 candlelit proposal. For that memorable occasion, Eric, 35, dropped to one knee in front of Jasmin, 29, in a room bathed in candlelight, adorned with white roses, and framed by a colossal red heart. The eldest of Martin's trio of children announced their engagement on Instagram on November 30th, penning, "God has truly blessed us with a love that feels predestined. We are thrilled for this next chapter. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this moment so enchanting."
Eric and Jasmin first revealed their romance on Instagram in July 2021. Jasmin posted a snapshot of them, captioning, "Happy birthday, my love! I'm profoundly blessed to know you, to cherish you, and to have you at my side." Eric echoed her sentiments, sharing a selfie and writing, "Head over heels in love with YOU @jasmin_lawerence." His message was adorned with a multitude of affectionate hashtags, including "my other half," "equally yoked," and "I love you."
Almost three years later, they made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Los Angeles premiere of Eddie's new film, "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F," a sequel to the iconic '80s movie franchise. Eric lent his voice to the film, working on automated dialogue replacement (ADR) alongside his father. This isn't the first time their families have collaborated; their dads have a rich history of friendship, starring together in the 1992 film "Boomerang" and the 1999 comedy "Life."
As for how the two comedic legends feel about their kids' relationship, Martin told E! News' Will Marfuggi in September 2024, "It's beautiful. They're both stunning, young adults who get along swimmingly." He continued, "Who would have guessed that my child and Eddie's child would pair up? It's just what it is." Eddie, on the other hand, joked that his main focus was the potential for future grandchildren. "Our combined gene pool is bound to produce a humorous baby," he shared with CBS Mornings in July 2024. "If they ever tie the knot and have a child, I'm expecting a little comedian."
Jasmin previously shed light on their famous family dynamics. "They usually find out somehow before actually meeting him," she explained to Daily Pop in 2022. "I don't usually have to say anything; someone tells them or they see it on social media." Eric, being the son of a famous father himself, understood the dynamics.
