Netflix's "Monster" anthology, a brainchild of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, has unveiled its leading lady for its upcoming fourth season. Ella Beatty, renowned for her role in "Feud: Capote vs. the Swans," will embody the enigmatic Lizzie Borden, reliving the sensationalized tale of her alleged axe murder of her father and stepmother, for which she was famously acquitted in court.

Joining Beatty in this gripping narrative are Rebecca Hall ("Godzilla vs. Kong," "Vicky Cristina Barcelona") as Abby Borden, Lizzie's stepmother, and Vicky Krieps ("Phantom Thread," "The Dead Don’t Hurt") as Bridget Sullivan, the family's maid. This stellar cast brings depth and experience to their respective roles, with Hall and Krieps also boasting prior collaborations with Murphy. Beatty, who made her TV debut in "Capote vs. the Swans" as the daughter of Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, continues her impressive run with a recurring part in that series. Hall is gearing up for Murphy's upcoming FX series "The Beauty," while Krieps will star in the third season of "Monster," featuring Charlie Hunnam as serial killer Ed Gein.

The Borden case, which captivated the media in the late 19th century, has inspired numerous documentaries and fictional adaptations, with several hitting the screens in the past decade. Christina Ricci portrayed Borden in the 2014 Lifetime movie "Lizzie Borden Took an Ax," followed by a miniseries the next year. More recently, Chloë Sevigny and Kristen Stewart tackled the roles of Borden and Sullivan in the 2018 film "Lizzie."

Murphy and Brennan have crafted the "Monster" anthology for Netflix, delivering another installment filled with intrigue and suspense. Beatty's resume also boasts credits in A24's "If I Had Legs I’d Kick You," while she is represented by CAA and Entertainment 360. Hall is represented by WME, Julian Belfrage Associates in the UK, and Hansen Jacobson. Krieps, meanwhile, is represented by CAA and United Agents in the UK.

This ensemble cast promises to breathe new life into the timeless tale of Lizzie Borden, bringing both historical accuracy and cinematic flair to the screen.
