Elle Fanning has shared a captivating update on the upcoming reboot of The Hunger Games franchise, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. This prequel will delve into the story of a young Haymitch Abernathy during the 50th Hunger Games. Fanning, who will be stepping into the shoes of Effie Trinket, previously portrayed by Elizabeth Banks, has shared her excitement about her role in the film.
In a recent interview with Collider, the 27-year-old actress revealed that she has completed "filming" her part in the movie. Although the overall production of Sunrise on the Reaping is still ongoing, it is expected to wrap up this month. Fanning described her character as "on the screen, which is super cool," and also praised the "great clothes" she was provided with.
When discussing her portrayal of Effie Trinket, Fanning paid homage to Banks' iconic performance, saying, "I love what Elizabeth Banks did so much, so I'm like, you know, bow down to her."
The film, directed by Francis Lawrence, will star Joseph Zada, McKenna Grace, Maya Hawke, and Whitney Peak. The Hunger Games prequel is slated to hit the big screens on November 20, 2026.
