Ellen DeGeneres Shows Off Gray Hair Transformation as She Returns to Montecito Following Her U.K. Move

Ellen DeGeneres has gracefully embraced her silver strands. The former helm of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" recently made her return to Montecito, California, where on January 14th, she was spotted flaunting her newly grown-out gray locks, a striking departure from her iconic blonde hair. At the age of 66, DeGeneres, alongside her wife Portia de Rossi, embarked on a new chapter by relocating to the serene countryside of the United Kingdom at the tail end of 2024, after reportedly finding "a house she adored," as revealed to PEOPLE by a source in November. Their move to England also marked a transformation for DeGeneres, who embraced her natural hair color along with her new surroundings.

Now that she has returned to the United States, it seems clear that her new look is here to stay. DeGeneres first showcased her mane makeover back in November. In a shared Instagram post from The Farmer's Dog Pub in England and singer-songwriter Natalie Imbruglia, DeGeneres was captured reveling in an intimate live music session alongside her wife and friends. The clip captured Imbruglia and her companions belting out tunes before panning over to DeGeneres and de Rossi, 51, who waved warmly at the camera. Gone was her signature platinum blonde hair, replaced by a chic, shorter, darker do, presumably her natural hue.

DeGeneres and de Rossi settled in the picturesque Cotswolds late last year, which just happens to be the locale of The Farmer's Dog Pub where they were spotted. This quaint establishment is owned by English TV presenter and journalist Jeremy Clarkson. "They mingled with Clarkson's partner, actress Lisa Hogan, and James Blunt, while The Corrs serenaded the pub," a source revealed to PEOPLE at the time of DeGeneres' visit. A real estate expert in California informed PEOPLE that the couple had sold their Carpinteria estate for a whopping $96 million in August.
