Vivian Wilson is carving out her own unique journey. Indeed, the estranged daughter of Elon Musk has dispelled any lingering doubts about the extent of her access to her father's staggering $480 billion net worth. "I'm financially independent," Vivian declared on September 20 during a panel at the 2025 Teen Vogue Summit. "I'm earning my own money now." She continued, "People make a lot of assumptions, and you just have to learn to navigate through them."
This isn't the first time the 21-year-old, a vocal critic of many of her father's public stances and actions, has made it abundantly clear that she doesn't reap the financial spoils of being Elon Musk's daughter. "I don't have that inheritance," she told New York magazine's The Cut in a profile published on September 2. "People assume I'm rolling in cash. But the truth is, I don't have hundreds of thousands of dollars lying around."
Vivian, whose mother is Elon's ex-wife Justine Wilson, went on to emphasize that, despite her father's "unfathomable levels of wealth," following in his footsteps has never held any appeal for her. "I have no aspiration to be super-rich," she elaborated. "I can afford food. I have friends, a roof over my head, and a bit of disposable income. That's nice, and I'm far more fortunate than most people my age in Los Angeles."
Beyond distancing herself financially from her father, Vivian has also labeled the Tesla CEO—father to 13 other children—as "uncaring and narcissistic." She later took him to task for promoting traditional family ideals. "It seems to me like you're trying to reconstruct your brand image as the 'caring paternal father,' and I won't let that go unchallenged," Vivian wrote in a post on Threads last August, responding to her father's praise of his younger sons. "If I'm being honest, this is downright pathetic."
And she's not buying into her father's supposed rebranding. "I get that your new shtick is this 'western values/christian [sic] family man' act, but it's such a bizarre choice," she added. "You're not a family man. You're a serial adulterer who can't stop lying about your own children. And as far as I know, you've never set foot in a church, let alone claimed to be a Christian."
