Jessie Cave alleges she was ousted from a Harry Potter fan convention on account of her OnlyFans presence. The actress, renowned for her portrayal of Lavender Brown throughout the blockbuster film series, disclosed earlier this year that she had launched an OnlyFans page to craft alluring hair-related content, emphasizing that it is "not a sexual" account. Nevertheless, Cave recently shared on her Substack that she was still excluded from the convention.
"I recently discovered that I wasn't booked for a Harry Potter convention because I'm now active on OnlyFans," she penned. "The organizers explained that it was due to the convention being a 'family-friendly event' and OnlyFans being associated with pornography. This reasoning perplexed me, especially considering that many actors who participate in conventions (in fact, most actors) have appeared in TV shows and films featuring sex scenes and nudity. I'm just having fun with my hair!"
While Cave feels she has been "ostracized" from certain segments of the Harry Potter fandom, she recognizes that it's time for the next generation to step into the spotlight and continue the beloved tale, with a TV series currently in the works. "I'm not disheartened by the prospect of no more Harry Potter conventions," she remarked. "There will be a new cast now, and it's a different era. Besides, I've been attending conventions for over 15 years and have accumulated enough photos and wizard memorabilia."
Cave reminisced about how, in some years, "the income I earned from signing photos of my face was the only substantial money I made. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have had those opportunities." However, she also acknowledged that "it's time to move forward and explore new roles."
She first took on the role of Lavender Brown in Half-Blood Prince, as the character gained prominence starting in the 2009 film as Ron Weasley's (Rupert Grint) girlfriend. She also made appearances in Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) and Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011).
Cave has also been candid on her Substack about her motivations for starting an OnlyFans account, stating that it's to help cover her bills and fund the renovation of her new home.
