It was the year 2004, and Eminem was set to grace the stage of Saturday Night Live as a musical guest, accompanied by Kate Winslet, who was asked to host the show. But before the night unfolded, a peculiar request he made to the Titanic actress left her stunned. The Academy Award-winning star shared this intimate detail during her appearance on The Graham Norton Show, claiming it was a story she had never told before.
As she prepared to host the show in the aftermath of the lip-syncing scandal involving Ashlee Simpson on SNL, Kate recalls feeling nervous. "I'm then on with Eminem," she shares. "I was doing publicity for a film called Finding Neverland at the time, and Johnny Depp and I had to miss the Wednesday rehearsal because we had to go to Chicago and talk to Oprah."
As she practiced for the show, "I'm tap dancing and singing fully live the week after the whole Ashlee Simpson thing," she recalls. And then, the 50-year-old shared a shocking revelation that she had not disclosed before: "This is a story I've never, never told," she continues. "Eminem asked me to shave his bottom," she adds with a hint of surprise. "He did! He said, 'Would you shave my butt?'"
Responding to this bizarre request, Kate remembers her initial reaction: "And I said, 'I'm sorry, I don't. I don't do personal grooming.' What? I'm not going to go with a Bic and get your crack love.'"
In the meantime, Kate is promoting her directorial debut, Goodbye June, which will be released in cinemas on December 12th.
