It's imperative that we delve into the red carpet comeback of Ezra Miller. The 32-year-old actor stunned the audience by making a sudden appearance at the prestigious 2025 Cannes Film Festival in France on May 17. This marked a significant milestone as it was the first time the embattled actor, who had been entangled in numerous controversies over the past few years, stepped onto a red carpet since the premiere of The Flash in Los Angeles in June 2023.

Miller graced the festival to lend his support to director Lynne Ramsay during the premiere of her film Die My Love. According to Variety, which shared a video of the performer sauntering past photographers on X (formerly known as Twitter), Miller, who had previously collaborated with Ramsay on the 2011 movie We Need to Talk About Kevin, donned a burgundy tuxedo adorned with a beret atop his long hair, and kept moving without stopping for the shutterbugs.

The star of The Perks of Being a Wallflower has remained absent from both the screen and the limelight following a tumultuous personal life. This includes a distressing incident in April 2020, where a video emerged showing Miller apparently choking a woman at a bar in Reykjavik, Iceland, and other erratic behaviors that culminated in several arrests in 2022, including two in Hawaii.

In August of that year, Miller was also charged with felony burglary in Vermont for allegedly stealing several bottles of alcohol. The actor pleaded not guilty in the case and narrowly escaped jail sentences for all the incidents that led to his detention. Moreover, he announced that he had embarked on a treatment journey for mental health issues and issued a heartfelt apology.

"Having recently navigated a period of profound crisis, I now realize that I am grappling with intricate mental health challenges and have embarked on a continuous treatment path," he stated in a press release to E! News in August 2022. "I deeply regret alarming and disturbing everyone with my past actions."

Miller further emphasized, "I am steadfast in my commitment to undertake the necessary steps to reclaim a healthy, secure, and productive phase in my life."

The following year, he spoke out once again after a temporary harassment order against him, issued amidst allegations of inappropriate behavior towards a minor, expired. The actor's lawyer had refuted these claims.

"I am uplifted by today's outcome and immensely grateful at this juncture to all who stood by me and worked tirelessly to halt this egregious misuse of the protection order," Miller posted on Instagram in June 2023, adding that he had been "unfairly and directly targeted."

Miller also shared a personal update. "I want everyone to know," he penned, "that I am relentlessly striving to uphold my well-being and doing my utmost to mitigate the collateral damage this ordeal has inflicted upon me and my loved ones."

Miller was among the many celebrities who strolled down the red carpet at the glitzy Cannes Film Festival.
