Redmond O'Neal, the offspring of Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal, graced the courtroom with striking tattoos resembling devil horns adorning his forehead, as reported. At the age of 41, he stands accused of multiple charges, including attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, stemming from an alleged crime spree in Los Angeles in 2018.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by PEOPLE, O'Neal allegedly assaulted a man with a glass bottle and inflicted a serious stab wound on another. "Initially, the victim believed that the suspect had merely 'punched' him in the back," authorities noted at the time. "However, upon the arrival of paramedics, it was discovered that the victim had sustained a substantial stab wound to the left side of his body."

O'Neal is also accused of robbing a 7-Eleven, as previously reported by PEOPLE—the culmination of an alleged week-long crime spree, as per authorities.

Pictures of O'Neal in court on Tuesday, March 10, were published by The Daily Mail, showcasing the son of the late actors with his new tattoos as he was deemed mentally competent to stand trial. O'Neal's attorney entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf, as reported.

Mela Murphy, O'Neal's conservator, shared an exclusive statement with PEOPLE. "Redmond has been drug-free and a model patient for five years now at Patton State Hospital," Murphy said. "He has overcome numerous challenges in his life, and we are proud of him—and Farrah would be too. He finally received a proper mental health diagnosis and medication."

The statement further reads, "I believe his severe drug problems in the past were a result of lacking mental health support in his earlier life. Today, he is engaged in 12-step recovery, assists fellow patients, reads daily, and has found a spiritual life. Many friends and supporters of Redmond are in touch with him and are immensely proud of his journey towards recovery."

Part of a famous Hollywood family, O'Neal's father, Ryan, an Oscar-nominated actor who passed away in 2023, was in a long-term relationship with his mother, Fawcett, the star of Charlie's Angels who passed away in 2009. O'Neal is the only child his father had with Fawcett, though he has several half-siblings, including Tatum O'Neal, the Oscar-winning actress.
