Jane Fallon has shared some news regarding her health. The beloved author and long-time partner of comedian Ricky Gervais has disclosed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer, thankfully caught in a "very early stage," with an "excellent prognosis."

"I had a routine mammogram just before Christmas," Jane wrote on Instagram on March 12th. "I didn't have any symptoms, but the brilliant radiographer spotted something suspicious and sent me for further tests and eventually a biopsy."

According to the 65-year-old, she has since undergone "more mammograms, more biopsies, and an MRI to precisely pinpoint the problem area."

"It's been a lot, I won't lie," the TV producer said. "But my surgery is scheduled for the week after next, and I just want to get it over with now."

Jane assured her fans that she was receiving "incredible care" and that "everything will be fine." However, she did admit that she wasn't interested in engaging in much beyond audiobooks and jigsaws.

Giving a shoutout to her beloved cat Pickle, she jokingly added, "Nurse Pickle wondering when lunch is."

While Ricky hasn't spoken publicly about Jane's diagnosis, the couple—who have been together since 1982 after meeting at University College London—have been candid about their relationship over the years. They have even discussed the reason they've chosen not to get married after over four decades.

"Don't see the point," Ricky told The Times in 2010. "We are married for all intents and purposes."

He continued, "Everything is shared, and actually our fake marriage has lasted longer than a real one."

As Jane explained it, neither she nor Ricky were really "fussed" about walking down the aisle.

"I think if one of us really cared then we would probably do it," she shared with the Daily Mail in 2018. "But it's not really been anything that either of us have ever really needed."
