When it comes to Francia Raisa and Selena Gomez, there's no hidden drama lurking in the shadows. The star from *The Secret Life of the American Teenager* responded to whispers of a feud between her and the 33-year-old "Who Says" singer, after Francia wasn't confirmed as a guest at Selena's September 27 wedding to Benny Blanco. "I know she's tying the knot," Francia shared with Univision’s *Primer Impacto* in a clip posted to Instagram ahead of the big day, "and I couldn't be happier for her."
The 37-year-old also offered a glimpse into where their friendship stands years after Francia donated a kidney to Selena in 2017 during her battle with Lupus. "Look—she's got her own life," Francia explained. "And she's already a billionaire. I'm just grateful I could do that for her." Over the years, the *How I Met Your Father* actress has been refreshingly open about how her bond with the *Wizards of Waverly Place* alum has ebbed and flowed, though she's revealed that the two always manage to reconnect. "I think our mutual support means everything," she told E! News in 2024. "I mean, we've been friends—goodness, we met back in 2008. And just like any siblings, we've had our ups and downs."
She continued, "And one of the best things about the best friendships I know is that you can go a whole year without talking, and then when you reunite, it's like no time has passed at all. That's exactly where we're at." But as for what initially drove them apart? According to Francia, there wasn't a single, defining moment. "We've never really had a falling-out," she reminisced to *USA Today* in 2023. "Nothing specific happened, and if you asked either of us, we wouldn't be able to pinpoint it. But we both knew we needed that space."
Yet Francia is actually grateful for that time apart, adding, "When you reconnect, you come back as better versions of yourselves. She and I are still in the process of rediscovering each other." And when it comes to Francia's ultimate act of friendship? "I gave her a kidney, so everyone had their opinions," she clarified. "And for years, I was asked, 'Do you regret it?' And my answer was always, 'No, the bond has always been there.' We just had a little bump in the road."
