At the age of 35, actor and writer Michael Patrick has sadly passed away. The Irish native, who had a memorable appearance in Season 6 of "Game of Thrones," died while receiving hospice care, as announced by his wife, Naomi Sheehan, on Instagram on April 8th.
Patrick had been battling Motor Neuron Disease, a devastating condition that "attacks the nerves that control movement so muscles no longer work," according to the MND Association. ALS is the most common form of this incurable disease. Though his family didn't reveal his exact diagnosis, they confirmed that he had been struggling with the condition since February 1st, 2023.

"Last night, Mick sadly passed away in the Northern Ireland Hospice," Sheehan began. "He was admitted ten days ago and was cared for by an incredible team there. He passed peacefully, surrounded by family and friends. Words can't describe how broken-hearted we are."
The MND Association notes that this condition can lead to muscle weakness, stiffness, and wasting, potentially impacting a person's ability to walk, talk, eat, drink, and breathe. It is a "life-shortening" disease that affects each individual differently.
Sheehan praised her husband for his strength and the impact he had on those around him. "It's been said more than once that Mick was an inspiration to everyone who was privileged enough to come into contact with him, not just during his illness but in every day of his life," she wrote. "He lived a life as full as any human can live. Joy, abundance of spirit, infectious laughter. A titan of a ginger-haired man."
"We are so grateful for every person who supported us through the last few years," she concluded. "Mick loved this quote from Brendan Behan and this feels appropriate now: 'The most important things to do in the world are to get something to eat, something to drink, and somebody to love you.' So, don't overthink it. Eat. Drink. Love. Naomi — Mick's wife."
Patrick's final social media post was on February 6th, where he revealed that his neurologist estimated he had one year left to live. "Still lots to live for and lots planned," he wrote in part.
In addition to "GoT," Patrick had roles in "Blue Lights," "This Town," and the BBC series "My Left Nut," which he co-wrote based on his teen years, according to IMDb. He was also featured in six episodes of "Blasts from the Past" and four episodes of "The Spectacular," among many others. His most recent role was in the German TV movie "Mordlichten - Tod auf den Färöer Inseln," which premiered in 2025.
According to IMDb, Patrick began his acting career at the University of Cambridge, where he performed with the famous Cambridge Footlights comedy troupe. He later attended the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, England.
