For a full fourteen days, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce kept their engagement a closely guarded secret. Though the couple officially announced their engagement on August 26th, the Kansas City Chiefs' tight end had actually popped the question two weeks prior, according to Travis' father, Ed Kelce, who disclosed the intimate details surrounding his son's proposal to the "Love Story" crooner.

As Ed revealed to ABC News 5 Cleveland, "Travis actually proposed maybe two weeks ago, give or take a couple of days." Sharing the story alongside his son Jason from his previous marriage to Donna Kelce, Ed explained that Travis had contemplated delaying the proposal to "create something grand, to turn it into a major special occasion." However, both Ed and Taylor's father, Scott Swift, advised him, "You know, you could do it anywhere, even by the roadside; it's the sentiment that makes it special."

And what a magical moment it turned out to be. On that fateful day, Travis, 35, asked Taylor, also 35, to marry him at his Lee's Summit, Missouri, home. Ed shared that Travis had even "crafted a charming little floral garden surrounding a gazebo" exclusively for the proposal.

"He led her out there, just as they were about to head out for dinner," Ed continued. "He suggested, ‘Let's step outside for a glass of wine.’ As they stood amidst the blooms, he popped the question, and the scene was nothing short of breathtaking."

Eager to share their thrilling news, the couple promptly FaceTimed all their close family members. Ed received the call during the Philadelphia Eagles' public practice on August 10th, three days before Taylor's New Heights podcast episode was released.

"As soon as I saw the FaceTime call, I recognized it was Travis," he recalled. "Then I saw Taylor with him, and I instantly knew what they were about to say. They shared their joyful news with us."

Ed already feels that his future daughter-in-law is a perfect fit for the family. He told the outlet that he had never seen Travis happier, especially during the engagement celebrations, which culminated in a family dinner on August 24th.

"We actually attended an event in Kansas City on Sunday night, which was the ESPN airing of 'The Kingdom,'" Ed said, adding that he and Donna later visited Taylor and Travis' home, where the "Karma" singer treated them to "a delightful dinner."

Ed added, "Witnessing the two of them, so疯狂地 in love with each other, is truly heartwarming. They are two young individuals deeply smitten with each other."

This love was evident in the enchanting photos Taylor and Travis shared on Instagram on August 26th. The couple posed amidst a garden of pink and white flowers, accompanied by a snapshot showcasing Taylor's dazzling diamond engagement ring. Captioning the Instagram carousel, they wrote, "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."
