Kristin Cavallari’s Ex Jay Cutler Gets Jail Time After DUI Charge

Published: Aug 27 2025

Jay Cutler is bracing himself for a stint behind bars. The former star quarterback of the Chicago Bears has been handed down a four-day jail sentence after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence (DUI), stemming from his arrest in Franklin, Tennessee, in October 2024, according to law enforcement sources who spoke to TMZ.

In addition to his jail time, Jay, who shares his children Camden, 13, Jaxon, 11, and Saylor, 9, with his ex-wife Kristin Cavallari, has been ordered to fork out a $350 fine, enroll in a DUI safety course, and undergo one year of supervised probation, as per sources close to the outlet.

Furthermore, the 42-year-old was initially slapped with a second charge for possessing a handgun while intoxicated during his arrest. However, this charge was dropped after he surrendered the weapon, TMZ reported.

E! News has reached out to the authorities, as well as Jay's representative, for comment, but as of yet, has received no response.

On the fateful day of his arrest, officers noted in a police affidavit, obtained by E! News at the time, that Jay's speech was "thick-tongued, slurred, and mumbled," while his eyes appeared "bloodshot." Despite allegedly emitting "an overwhelming odor of an alcoholic beverage," Jay initially claimed to officers that he hadn't consumed any alcohol. Though, according to the document, he later conceded to having had "a little bit."

The affidavit also detailed how Jay refused to take a field sobriety test but later agreed to have his blood drawn at Williamson Medical Center.

While Jay has remained tight-lipped about his arrest, he recently opened up about his ex-wife's "reckless" claim that she didn't financially benefit from their 2020 divorce on the Aug. 14 episode of his podcast, Take It Outside. "I think it's borderline slander to insinuate that there was zero dollars split during the marriage that each side got," he said. "It's insanity and it's completely false, completely untrue."

Jay didn't delve into the specifics of his settlement with Kristin, simply stating, "I can guarantee you it's definitely not zero dollars." E! News reached out to Kristin's representative for comment at the time, but again, received no response.
