Taylor Lautner is overjoyed that Taylor Swift has found her happily ever after. The former 'Twilight' heartthrob, who briefly romanced the Grammy-awarded artist in 2009, expressed his heartfelt support for the soon-to-be bride by resharing a heartwarming message celebrating Taylor's engagement to Travis Kelce. The couple had announced their engagement earlier that same day via a joint Instagram post.
Lautner's repost featured a snapshot from their engagement, originally posted on the NFL's Instagram page on August 26th. It was accompanied by a picture capturing a cherished moment on the field, right after Travis won the AFC Championships in January 2024. Side-by-side, the football account adorned the images with Taylor's endearing quote to Travis at the time, reading, "I can't believe this is happening." The NFL captioned it succinctly, "Same."
Years ago, the singer pensively wrote the song "Back to December" about their fleeting romance. Yet, time has mended fences, transforming exes into friends.
"Every relationship walks its unique path," Lautner, now married to Tay (Dome) Lautner, shared insightfully with Alex Cooper on the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast in December 2023. "When you deeply respect someone for their authentic self, it paves the way for forgiveness, moving on, and nurturing that love in a fresh form. Fortunately, we had that. So, when our youthful romance ended—I was 18, she was 20 or 21—we stayed friends, catching up occasionally."
He went on, "Taylor has always held a special place in my heart, above all else. One of the most beautiful developments in my life over the past year has been the rekindling of our friendship. She's an extraordinary human, a gem that enriches one's life."
The "Cruel Summer" crooner even invited her ex on stage during the Kansas City leg of her Eras Tour in July 2023—the very same stop where she inadvertently misplaced Travis' friendship bracelet. The occasion marked the premiere of her "I Can See You" music video, which also starred Lautner.
"I conceived this video treatment over a year ago, yearning to symbolically depict how fans have aided me in reclaiming my music," Swift penned on Instagram post-show. "I was determined to have @joeyking, @taylorlautner, and @helloimpresleycash star in it."
This narrative weaves a tale of resilience, transformation, and the enduring power of friendship, transcending the boundaries of past romances.
