‘House of the Dragon’ Starts Filming Season 3, Adds Cast Members

The ensemble of HBO's epic fantasy series, "House of the Dragon," has regrouped in front of the lenses in the UK to embark on the next chapter of their regal saga. Filming has officially commenced for the highly anticipated third season, once again promising a mesmerizing run of eight episodes. Moreover, the showrunners have unveiled two fresh faces for this new venture: Tommy Flanagan, renowned for his role in "Sons of Anarchy," steps into the shoes of Ser Roderick Dustin, while Dan Fogler, who charmed audiences in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," will embody Ser Torrhen Manderly.

Adding to the excitement, the production has also revealed the directors helming this season's cinematic journey: Clare Kilner, Nina Lopez-Corrado, Andrij Parekh, and Loni Peristere. The timing hints at a grand premiere sometime in 2026, enticing fans with anticipation.

Joining this star-studded ensemble are Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, Matthew Needham, Tom Bennett, Kieran Bew, Kurt Egyiawan, Freddie Fox, Clinton Liberty, Gayle Rankin, and Abubakar Salim, all reprising their roles with grandeur.

Based on George R.R. Martin's compelling tome, "Fire & Blood," "House of the Dragon" is a prequel set 200 years prior to the events of "Game of Thrones," chronicling the intriguing tales of House Targaryen. At the helm of this fantastical narrative is co-creator Ryan Condal as the showrunner. Martin, who also serves as a co-creator and executive producer, joins forces with EPs Sara Hess, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Vince Gerardis, David Hancock, and Philippa Goslett, promising a season filled with intrigue, grandeur, and unparalleled storytelling.
