Nicola Peltz Beckham is not one to add fuel to the fire, which is why when she was recently asked about the public attention surrounding her husband, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham's fallout with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, the actress expertly pivoted away from the inquiry by explaining how she had been editing her upcoming movie, Prima, "for the past two and a half weeks."
"So honestly, I’ve been in the editing room," Nicola told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published on March 5. "We haven’t had weekends. We’ve just been trying to make a deadline." The 31-year-old added that "it’s been so amazing to just put my focus on that and be creative."
"It’s been really fun doing that," she continued, "and I’m really excited for it to come out."
Despite the family drama, the Bates Motel alum made sure to carve out time in her schedule to celebrate Brooklyn's 27th birthday, showering him with gifts and sweet treats on March 4. "I hope all your dreams and wishes come true!" Nicola wrote in an Instagram tribute. "You light up every room you walk into and anyone who knows you loves you. You’re the most special human and I love being your wife."
Brooklyn's parents also took to social media to extend their well wishes amid their family rift. Victoria, 51, shared on her Instagram Story that day, "Happy birthday Brooklyn." The Spice Girls member continued, "We love you so much." Meanwhile, David, 50, called Brooklyn by his nickname, captioning a throwback photo, "Happy Birthday Bust. We love you."
The messages came nearly two months after Brooklyn publicly spoke out about his family's drama, accusing David and Victoria of "trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn't stopped." He alleged on Instagram Stories that weeks before their wedding, his parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe him into signing away the rights to his name, which would have affected him, his wife, and their future children.
"The night before our wedding, members of my family told me that Nicola was 'not blood' and 'not family'," he said. The Cloud23 founder also claimed Victoria "hijacked" his first dance with Nicola at their 2022 nuptials. Though the routine had been "planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song," Brooklyn said he instead found the "Wannabe" singer "waiting to dance" on the dance floor.
"She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone," Brooklyn said of his mother, who also shares kids Romeo Beckham, 23, Cruz Beckham, 20, and Harper Beckham, 14, with David. "I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life." He added, "I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled. I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life."
