The prestigious Grammys milestone is upon us... The Recording Academy unveiled the nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards on November 7th, and while the grand event won't take place until February, several artists have already made waves. Take Kendrick Lamar, for instance. With his nomination for Album of the Year for GNX, he has become the first rapper to receive a whopping five nominations in this category as a lead artist. Moreover, he is the first solo artist ever to be nominated for this award with five consecutive studio albums, breaking new ground in the world of music.

Kendrick, who topped the list of nominees with a total of nine nods, has also etched his name in Grammy history. For the first time, three albums - GNX, Clipse, Pusha T & Malice's Let God Sort Em Out, and Tyler, The Creator's CHROMAKOPIA - were nominated for both Best Rap Album and Album of the Year.
Meanwhile, ROSÉ and Bruno Mars's track "APT." has not only earned them nods for Record of the Year and Song of the Year but also made Blackpink's singer the first K-pop artist to receive a nomination as a main performer for one of the top four Grammy awards - which also includes Album of the Year and Best New Artist. Along with its nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, "APT." is now the most nominated song by any Korean or K-pop artist in Grammy history.
Speaking of K-pop, "Golden," a track from the Netflix animated fantasy film KPop Demon Hunters, has also been nominated for Song of the Year. This marks the first time a track from a virtual group has been nominated in this category since Gorillaz in 2006.
And the Grammy Awards ceremony itself will make history in the new year. Two new categories have been added - Best Traditional Country Album, whose nominees include Willie Nelson and Luke Nelson - as well as Best Album Cover (with Tyler, the Creator and Bad Bunny among those competing).
The 2026 Grammys ceremony will air live on CBS on Sunday, February 1st, from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
