James Kennedy has issued a response to the recent controversy sparked by his shared image with the controversial siblings, Andrew and Tristan Tate. In an Instagram Stories post dated Saturday, March 8th, the 32-year-old reflected, "I deeply regret posting a picture with the Tate brothers at an event last night. I was unaware of their content and the allegations levied against them at the time, knowing them solely as podcasters who had gained viral fame through a clip about Vanderpump."
He further elaborated, "Since then, I have educated myself on the matter and unequivocally condemn their beliefs. I sincerely apologize to anyone I may have offended." Kennedy had performed at LIV Las Vegas nightclub on Friday, March 7th, where he took the now-deleted snapshot with the Tate brothers. Neither Andrew nor Tristan has publicly commented on their encounter with Kennedy.
Andrew, 38, and Tristan, also 38, have faced a multitude of accusations, including sexual assault and human trafficking charges in both Romania and the United Kingdom. They have steadfastly denied all allegations. "We reside in a democratic society where one is innocent until proven guilty," Andrew told reporters last month upon arriving in the United States with his brother. "I believe my brother and I are often misunderstood. There are countless opinions about us swirling online, many of which are misinformed." He emphasized, "To date, neither of us has ever been convicted of any crime."
The former kickboxers have remained in Romania since their initial arrest in December 2022 on charges of rape and trafficking. Earlier this month, news broke that the state of Florida intends to initiate a criminal investigation into the alleged misconduct of Andrew and Tristan. "Fleeing our jurisdiction will not halt Florida's ongoing criminal investigation," Florida's Attorney General, James Uthmeier, declared via a statement on Thursday, March 6th. "We will relentlessly collaborate with law enforcement and partners globally to combat human trafficking and sexual abuse."
On the same Thursday, Andrew tweeted that Florida was "extremely welcoming" and hinted at a future visit, stating, "See you in a few years." Meanwhile, Kennedy's performance on Friday marked his return to his DJ career following a relapse and a domestic violence arrest in December 2024. (Kennedy was arrested following an alleged altercation with his then-ex, Ally Lewber, which he denied, leading to no formal charges being filed.) "I am dedicating this time to focus on my sobriety, personal growth, and being present for my loved ones," Kennedy had shared on Instagram in December 2024. "Navigating tough times is never easy, but I am resolved to learn, grow, and move forward with the incredible support system that surrounds me."
