Jamie Lee Curtis Unveils a Veiled yet Potent Reaction to the Cancellation of CBS's 'Late Show' – Originally Published on Parade
Jamie Lee Curtis isn't shying away from voicing her sentiments regarding the recent axe given to 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.' Promptly after CBS's announcement earlier this week about the termination of the long-standing program, Curtis was pressed to weigh in on the matter during a red carpet event on Thursday, July 17th. And suffice it to say, she spoke her mind without equivocation.
While engaging with reporters from the Associated Press at the Culture Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday night, the iconic 'Freaky Friday' actress offered a stark evaluation of the situation, saying succinctly, "It's dire."
"He's an exceptional, remarkable individual," she further remarked about Colbert, who has helmed the late-night show since 2015.
Curtis then proceeded to lambast the newly enacted legislation aimed at slashing funds for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which supports NPR and PBS. "They're endeavoring to stifle voices," Curtis declared cryptically, before forecasting, "But it won't succeed."
"It simply won't. We'll only grow louder," she added with a resolute smile.
'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' is set to conclude officially in May 2026.
