In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in June 2024, Jean reflected on her initial encounter with the character of Deborah Vance in "Hacks." "Upon reading the script, I exclaimed, 'This is my dream role for my next project!'" she revealed. "However, I needed assurance that real-life stand-up comedians would believe me as a comic. As I'd never tread the comic path, their approval was crucial. And I think I've earned it!"
Jean further elaborated on how portraying the legendary stand-up comedian has transformed her life: "I'm making more money now," she chuckled.
