Jean Smart graced the 2025 Golden Globes stage, clinching the accolade for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her stellar performance in "Hacks." During her heartfelt acceptance speech on Sunday evening, the iconic star exclaimed, "I never imagined I'd be this thrilled to be labeled as a hack!" "My cast and crew are truly heaven-sent, particularly my co-star, Hannah Einbinder," Jean continued, her voice tinged with gratitude. "Without Ava, Deborah wouldn't exist. Moreover, I'm immensely proud of our exceptional ensemble, the rest of our dedicated crew, and everyone at Max and Universal for their unwavering support over the years. As we sail through the fourth season, the joy remains unparalleled. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for embracing and cherishing our show."

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in June 2024, Jean reflected on her initial encounter with the character of Deborah Vance in "Hacks." "Upon reading the script, I exclaimed, 'This is my dream role for my next project!'" she revealed. "However, I needed assurance that real-life stand-up comedians would believe me as a comic. As I'd never tread the comic path, their approval was crucial. And I think I've earned it!"

Jean further elaborated on how portraying the legendary stand-up comedian has transformed her life: "I'm making more money now," she chuckled. "Finally, after all these years, I'm doing it for the Benjamins! Seriously though, I couldn't ask for a more wonderful, supportive, and collaborative team. And Hannah [Einbinder]... words fail me in describing her brilliance. She's extraordinary."

Jean emerged victorious over stiff competition from Kristen Bell ("Nobody Wants This"), Quinta Brunson ("Abbott Elementary"), Selena Gomez ("Only Murders in the Building"), Kathryn Hahn ("Agatha All Along"), and last year's winner in this category, Ayo Edebiri ("The Bear"). Her performance in "Hacks" has also garnered her three Emmys. The third season of the show premiered on Max in May 2024, and fans eagerly anticipate the release of the fourth season later this year.
