Kylie Jenner and Jennifer Lopez lent their unwavering support to their late cherished friend and renowned celebrity hairstylist, Jesus Guerrero, at his solemn funeral ceremony this weekend. PEOPLE has verified that the 27-year-old Jenner and the 55-year-old Lopez were among the esteemed guests who gathered in Houston, Guerrero's hometown, on Sunday, March 30, to bid him farewell. The event was also attended by numerous luminaries from the beauty industry, alongside a host of close friends and family members.

Guerrero's family initially broke the heartbreaking news of his passing in a series of emotional Instagram Stories posts on February 23. They revealed that the talented hairstylist had passed away suddenly at the tender age of 34, while the cause of his demise remains undisclosed. "Our family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this incredibly difficult period. Jesus was a radiant beacon of light, and we have always known that he illuminated the hearts and lives of everyone fortunate enough to cross his path," the family captioned a photograph of Guerrero.

Both Lopez and Jenner have been open about their profound affection for Guerrero since his demise. Jenner generously offered to shoulder the financial burden of his funeral arrangements for his family, a gesture that Guerrero's sister Gris publicly acknowledged in an update on the family's GoFundMe page. "Our family is immensely thankful to Kylie for stepping forward to cover the funeral costs and for providing all the assistance and support she could muster," the update read. The fundraiser's description clarified that the $96,000 previously raised would be utilized to "secure his belongings and bring them home," as well as to cover "other unforeseen expenses related to settling his affairs."

An insider shared with PEOPLE on February 24, "Jenner was deeply affected by Jesus' death. She is utterly shocked and heartbroken. Despite her own distress, she is pulling out all the stops to offer support and financial aid to his family. She recognizes that their pain is immeasurably greater than her own and doesn't want them to worry about finances. She is covering all expenses, including those pertaining to his funeral."

Jenner also paid her own heartfelt tribute on February 25, writing, "Jesus was more than just a friend to me — he was a luminous presence in my life, a wellspring of laughter, solace, love, and steadfast support. I can't fathom how I would have navigated the past almost decade without him by my side. He had a magical way of making even the darkest days seem brighter."

Lopez, too, expressed her grief in a moving caption, beginning with, "Jesus. It's no coincidence that your mother named you after the savior. You were gentle, kind, loving, unassuming, yet so powerful. Your presence was undeniable the moment you entered any room. You never sought the spotlight. You didn't need to make a sound to be noticed; your heart and talent spoke volumes, just as effortlessly as your artistic prowess did. When Guerrero's family announced his passing, they included a poignant snapshot of him strolling through the streets of Paris, adding, 'I'm not sure how the world will continue without his radiant light, but I know he will imbue us with the strength to overcome any obstacle. RIP, Jesus. We love you endlessly.'"
