"As an esteemed alumna of Preston High School, I am profoundly moved by the resilience of the students, families, and local officials who are courageously amplifying their voices amidst these trying times. I see you, I hear you," penned the 55-year-old actress with sincerity.

Lopez, renowned for her role in "Maid in Manhattan," also posted two nostalgic throwback photographs. The first snapshot captured her donning a jacket adorned with the school's emblem, while the second showed her dashing across the track field with unbridled enthusiasm.

"The community's unwavering support is nothing short of inspiring, and I fervently hope that a viable path can be forged to uphold the school's storied legacy. #PrestonForever," Lopez declared passionately.

According to The New York Times, the singer-actress graduated from the all-girls Preston High School in 1987.

In February, the grim news of the school's impending closure was announced. In a solemn letter penned by the Preston High School Board of Trustees, it was conveyed that the institution was "being shuttered due to shifting demographics, financial instability, and a striking 30% decline in enrollment over the past thirteen years."

The letter further emphasized, "We must underscore that the decision to close is irrevocable." It continued, "The leadership of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion, who own the school, stand firmly behind this decision. No circumstances will alter this irrefutable fact."

"We implore you not to harbor false hopes, as the ongoing campaigns to 'save the school' are unlikely to reverse this heart-wrenching decision," the letter concluded solemnly.
