The triumphant return of Rico's Roughnecks is still in full swing! Following their dazzling reunion at the Emerald City Comic-Con in Seattle in March, the ensemble cast of the iconic 1997 cult film, "Starship Troopers," has once again assembled under one roof. This time, the stage witnessed an even more remarkable gathering of cast members, who posed for rare photographs together—a first in 37 years. During the Chicago Comic Con and Entertainment Expo over the April 12 weekend, original "Starship Troopers" stars Dina Meyer, Casper Van Dien, and Denise Richards welcomed Michael Ironside and Jake Busey to the fold, adding a seasoned superior officer and a fellow soldier to their ranks.
Meyer shared these stunning new snapshots on her official Instagram account, outshining the viral photos from March. The images capture Meyer, Van Dien, Richards, Ironside, and Busey all united for a special reunion panel at C2E2. While '80s kids rejoiced at the reunion of "The Breakfast Club" at the same convention, '90s kids had this unforgettable moment to cherish.
For those who might have forgotten, in the 1997 film, Meyer, Van Dien, and Richards portrayed, arguably, the three pivotal characters—Dizzy Flores, Johnny Rico, and Carmen Ibanez, respectively. Veteran actor Michael Ironside, renowned for his roles in "Top Gun" and "seaQuest," essayed the character of Mr. Rasczak, a former high school teacher turned Lieutenant and their commanding officer in the war against the Klendathu bugs. Meanwhile, Busey played Ace Levy, a comrade infantryman.
In addition to the planned reunion panel at New York Comic-Con in 2024 and their previous reunion at the Emerald City Comic-Con in March 2025, this gathering at C2E2 stands as the most nearly complete reunion of "Starship Troopers" yet. All that remains now is to secure Neil Patrick Harris's participation, and this nostalgic celebration of "Starship Troopers" will reach an unprecedented level.
