"This past weekend, our cherished Billy bravely underwent his third - and hopefully final - open heart surgery," Kimmel emotionally shared on Instagram. "With a mixture of immense optimism and profound fear, we embarked on this journey, emerging with a brand-new valve within a vibrant, resilient youngster."
The host of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" showered praise on the dedicated team at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, where Billy received exceptional care. "Walking through the hospital halls, encountering parents at their most vulnerable moments, children in pain, and the angels in white coats who go beyond their limits to save lives is truly humbling," Kimmel wrote. "We pray you never find the need for CHLA, but if fate leads you there, know that they extend a helping hand to families regardless of their financial capabilities, thanks in large part to the Affordable Care Act (a salute to the late Senator John McCain) and generous contributions from organizations like Disney, which I am proud to represent, and most importantly, from compassionate individuals like you."
The comedian also expressed gratitude to the "loving strangers who took a moment to pray for and send positive vibes to our precious child."
