Renowned for his critically acclaimed stage performances, Joseph Fiennes, who captivated audiences in "Shakespeare in Love" and "The Handmaid’s Tale," will revisit his portrayal of Gareth Southgate, the勇毅无惧 England manager who dared to take the helm of a team burdened by a sorry history in penalty shootouts. Whittaker will breathe vibrant life into the role of team psychologist Pippa Grange, while Watkins will embody the essence of former Football Association chairman Greg Dyke. Meanwhile, Ryan will step into the shoes of former assistant manager Steve Holland, rounding out this dynamic ensemble.

A host of talented actors from the original play will also grace the small screen, with John Hodgkinson returning as former FA chairman Greg Clarke, Adam Hugill portraying Harry Maguire, Josh Barrow as Jordan Pickford, and Lewis Shepherd taking on the role of Dele Alli.

Rounding out the stellar lineup are Will Antenbring as Harry Kane, Edem-Ita Duke as Marcus Rashford, Francis Lovehall as Raheem Sterling, Abdul Sessay as Bukayo Saka, and Jacob Greenway as Jude Bellingham.

Billed as a captivating fictionalized account of real events, meticulously researched and interviewed, "Dear England" premiered to critical acclaim at the National Theatre in 2023, securing the Olivier Award for Best New Play. James Graham, the mastermind behind the play, doubles as the series' writer and executive producer. Rupert Goold, who helmed the stage version, will direct the premiere episode, with Paul Whittington taking the reigns for episodes two through four. Tina Pawlik serves as the producer, while the executive producing team includes Graham, Goold, Andy Harries and Rebecca Hodgson for Left Bank Pictures, and Jo McClellan and Sami El-Hadi for the BBC.

Currently under production by Left Bank Pictures in the picturesque southern regions of England, "Dear England" is set to make its highly anticipated debut on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in 2026. Sony Pictures Television will oversee its international distribution, ensuring that football fans worldwide will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this inspiring tale of perseverance and triumph.
