In a revealing interview with Parade, published on April 10th, the 52-year-old actor opens up about how his former marriage to Fergie has molded him into the man he is today. "I'm a continuous work in progress," Duhamel candidly admits, discussing life after their divorce in 2019, which came after a two-year separation.
Despite the conclusion of their eight-year union, Duhamel emphasizes that there is no animosity between them. Instead, the Transformers star underscores their unwavering teamwork when it comes to parenting their 11-year-old son, Axl Jack. "Our co-parenting journey is marked by minimal conflict," he shares, offering solace to any divorced parent's ears.
As Duhamel has previously articulated, their separation wasn't marked by drama or scandal. It stemmed from differing lifestyles. "I'm just not the type to thrive in red carpet events or engage in all that Hollywood hoopla," he adds.
Fergie, born Stacy Ann Ferguson, officially filed for divorce in 2019. Yet, Duhamel looks back on that chapter with immense gratitude. "I've come to terms with that phase of my life. She and I share a wonderful relationship," he told Bensinger in 2023. "There was nothing inherently wrong. We had some fantastic times together. I believe we simply outgrew each other, driven by vastly different interests." He stresses, "I hold no grudges. Truly, I don't. I consider myself incredibly fortunate that she's such a kind-hearted soul."
