Julia Fox has recently made a bombshell revelation regarding the casting preferences behind "Uncut Gems." During an appearance on Jay Shetty's podcast, "On Purpose," the Italian actress unveiled how she had to persuade studios to cast her in the film, rather than Scarlett Johansson.

In Josh and Benny Safdie's 2019 hit, Julia portrayed Adam Sandler's mistress, and she opened up about the studio's insistence on casting Scarlett in the role. "People knew who I was. I was somewhat of an urban celebrity, and these directors had heard about me and wanted to meet me," shared the 35-year-old.

The star of "PVT Chat" recounted how studios were crafting a role specifically for a young woman involved in a sugar daddy scenario, which ultimately evolved into "Uncut Gems." "I auditioned just like everyone else. Despite them essentially writing the part for me, the studios responded with, 'We don't know her.' They were set on having Scarlett and all these other stunning, established actresses," Julia revealed.

The actress who also stars in "The Trainer" further elaborated that she participated in a screen test with Adam, which fortunately went exceptionally well. "They managed to convince the studios to give me the role," Julia added.

Interestingly, the model-turned-actress admitted that she "wasn't even sure" if she had the acting chops at the time. However, Julia always had a "gut feeling," and following "Uncut Gems," she went on to collaborate with Steven Soderbergh on "Presence" and "No Sudden Move."

The actress also ventured into writing, making her debut with "Lipstick Palm." For those unaware, "Uncut Gems" garnered the Best Director award at the New York Film Critics Circle and the Best Screenplay honor at the National Board of Review.
