Country music sensation Kacey Musgraves publicly addressed a fan who boldly grabbed her during her Tampa performance, voicing her intention to adopt an authentic "East Texas" demeanor in response, hinting at a stern confrontation. "Last night, this Tampa lady – " Musgraves began, her tone sharp, during her subsequent show in Hollywood, Florida on Saturday. "She sort of tarnished the evening for everyone. I almost felt the need to channel my inner East Texas spirit, ditch my earrings, and show her what Florida is truly made of," she added, a hint of steel in her voice.
During Friday's Tampa gig, Musgraves was abruptly grabbed by an audience member as she navigated through the packed crowd. Her performance came to an abrupt halt as she exclaimed, "What the hell?" As she retreated, her frustration spilled into the microphone, echoing, "Jesus Christ Almighty."
Incidents of fan misconduct seem to be escalating in recent years. Recall last year when Bebe Rexha sustained a black eye after a cellphone was hurled at her during one of her concerts. Similarly, country crooner Kelsea Ballerini was also targeted by an object thrown from the audience while on stage.
Neither Musgraves' representative nor the Tampa police immediately offered comment upon request. Musgraves, however, is no stranger to speaking her mind. Earlier this year, she boldly wore a T-shirt emblazoned with a derogatory comment about her personality that was originally posted online. The shirt read, "I liked your music but your personality seems shitty," a direct reference to a social media critique from 2019.
Captioning a photo of herself in the shirt, Musgraves penned, "Stay self-aware," a testament to her unwavering commitment to authenticity and resilience in the face of criticism.
