Kate Gosselin Hard Launches Relationship With Former Bodyguard Steve Neild

Published: Nov 11 2025

Kate Gosselin's love life is no longer a secret. Fifteen years after her divorce from Jon Gosselin, the former "Kate Plus 8" star has confirmed her romance with the family's former bodyguard, Steve Neild. In an Instagram video compilation posted on November 8, which featured ten "obsessions," Kate included two photos of herself and Steve, captioning them with a heart-eyes emoji and the simple declaration, "My boyfriend."

The 50-year-old's confirmation of her boyfriend—who provided security services to the Gosselin family between 2008 and 2014—comes just two months after Jon publicly addressed speculation that the pair were in a relationship. "I told you all," Jon wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post, attaching a Page Six article that had reported on the romance. "No one believed me—guess I was right!"

Jon, who shares twins Mady and Cara, both 25, and sextuplets Alexis, Joel, Leah, Aadan, Hannah, and Collin, all 21, with Kate, went on to allege that Kate's romance with Steve is what caused their 2009 divorce, adding, "Guess who really ruined the marriage."

But Kate's ex isn't the only one who has previously spoken out about her romance with the family's former employee. Collin—who shared his estranged relationship with his mother and several of his siblings in 2022—also recently alleged that Kate was not being "truthful" about her romance with Steve. "What really upsets me is that my mom had an affair with our bodyguard back in 2009, and for years would share hotel rooms with him while we went on family vacations, while I was in the connected room," Collin wrote in a September 25 Instagram Story. "Now everyone thinks her being with him is some cute novel romance."

E! News previously reached out to Kate for comment about the cheating allegations but did not hear back. However, she described the accusations between herself and Steve as "disgusting, unthinkable, unfathomable" in the past. "These are people who absolutely love us and want to see us through to the end," Kate told People of Steve and his family in May 2009, one month before announcing her divorce from Jon. "Of course, both of them travel with us at times and we’ve spent holidays together because, in this situation, your circle grows smaller and smaller."

At the time, Kate added that it's "very natural to become friends with your manager, your publicist, your security team." The mom of eight confirmed she had been dating someone for over a year in early September, and she went on to accidentally mention her boyfriend by name during a TikTok Live later that month. In a September 30 livestream from the hospital as she recovered from knee surgery, she slipped up and said "Steve" to someone off camera before adding to her audience with wide-eyed shock, "Oops, I knew that was gonna happen. Whatever. It’s fine."
