Kate Hudson has confirmed a thrilling but unfulfilled chapter of her career, as she revealed on the latest episode of "Watch What Happens Live!" that she was offered the lead role in "Spider-Man," but turned it down. The 46-year-old actress admitted that she was offered the coveted part of Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi's 2002 film.

As host Andy Cohen inquired, "Did you really turn down the role of Mary Jane Watson in 'Spider-Man,' and do you regret it?" The actress from "Almost Famous" replied with a playful smile, "It's funny how things are said. When people ask, it doesn't feel great to talk about it because the people who are in the movie are the right people."
She continued, "And your circumstances in life happen the way they happen, but yes, I did. Looking back now, it's one of those things where I think, 'That would have been nice to be in the 'Spider-Man' movie.'" However, she added, "But at the same time, I did a movie called [The] Four Feathers. I got to meet Heath Ledger, who became a very good friend, and I got an experience that I would have never had."
Kirsten Dunst played Mary Jane Watson in the first three "Spider-Man" movies alongside Tobey Maguire. And while Kate may have missed out on that particular superhero adventure, she took solace in the fact that life led her to meet and form a bond with someone as talented as Heath Ledger. "So, part of me is like, life happens exactly the way it’s supposed to, and I’m grateful for it," she concluded.
