Katie Bates Enters Intensive Therapy After Husband Travis Clark's Affair Admission

Katie Bates is navigating self-care amidst a challenging period. The Bringing Up Bates alum revealed that she's embarking on intensive therapy a month after her husband, Travis Clark, admitted - shortly after Katie suffered a pregnancy loss - that he had cheated on her. "I've been wanting to share something for a while, but I honestly haven't known how to articulate my thoughts," Katie wrote on her Instagram Stories on Feb. 23. "This year didn't start as I envisioned. It's been emotionally heavy in ways I wasn't prepared for. Some days I feel stable and okay, while others are challenging, making it hard to even leave the house."

"I'm simply trying to take it one day at a time," she continued. "Thank you for the love, prayers, and messages I've received. They mean more than I can express. I don't always know how to respond, but please know that I see them and I'm grateful."

The 25-year-old, who shares Hailey, 2, and Harvey, 16 months old, with Travis, went on to explain her reason for entering the therapy program. "I'm about to attend my first four-day therapy intensive," Katie shared. "I don't feel equipped to handle something like this on my own, so seeking help feels crucial. I know I can't engage in anything else well if I'm not addressing this in a healthy manner."

"Being a mom to Hailey and Harvey and finding little pieces of normal life again has been so grounding for me," she continued. "I'm not very good at expressing my emotions, so this may seem scattered, but I'm trying to lean on God, and He has brought me so much comfort."

The reality star concluded her message by informing her followers that she may be taking a step back from sharing her life going forward but still appreciates all the support she's received from them. "I don't know how much I'll share as I navigate through this," she explained. "Or what that will look like, but I wanted to say thank you for the kindness and grace you've shown me. It truly means a lot."

Katie's update comes a month after Travis first shared that he had an affair. "This is hard to write, but I owe the truth and an apology," he wrote on his Instagram Stories on Jan. 17. "I was unfaithful to my wife. I had an affair and repeatedly broke her trust. There is no excuse for what I did. This was my failure and my responsibility alone."

"I know that words don't begin to express the damage I caused or the depth of the hurt I've brought into her life, but I am truly sorry," the 24-year-old continued at the time. "I'm sorry for the pain, humiliation, and betrayal I caused my wife through my choices. I understand that an apology doesn't repair what I broke, and forgiveness is not something I deserve or can ask for."

Two days later, Katie posted that their "marriage has been deeply hurt" and her trust had been "broken" by Travis' transgression, but she was still hoping to "preserve" their marriage. "We are working through this privately, seeking counsel both together and individually as we try to determine the best path forward for our family," she explained. "I am also being supported by legal counsel. This is not a quick or easy process, and it is not one I am taking lightly."
