In an alternate universe, Katy Perry and Josh Groban might have been the perfect couple. But in this reality, the "You Raise Me Up" singer recently proposed to his now-fiancée Natalie McQueen, a moment that elicited some humorous reactions from Katy. In a May 11 TikTok video, Katy appeared onscreen over a screenshot announcing Josh and Natalie's engagement—which occurred in April after three years of dating—before she poured herself a comically full glass of what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage. As her song "The One That Got Away" played in the background, Katy chugged the glass, spilling it over her bathrobe. She wished the couple congratulations in her caption, adding a champagne emoji. However, the playful TikTok caught some fans off guard. "Katy this is crazy lmaoo," one user wrote, while another added, "Baby are you ok?"

For those unaware, it might seem like the "One of the Boys" artist is still pining over the man she briefly dated in 2009. But in reality, she and Josh have remained close friends since their short-lived romance. Plus, she's been dating former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau since her breakup with Orlando Bloom.
In 2017, Katy did refer to Josh as "the one that got away" during a livestream, revealing that her 2010 song of the same name was written about him. However, for Josh, the news came as a surprise. "I was not expecting that," he said during a 2018 appearance on Watch What Happens Live. "That was a double take and a spit of my coffee. It's very sweet of her to say that."
After reflecting on the lyrics, he's not sure he totally fits the bill. "I'm like, 'I've never owned a Mustang, I don't have a tattoo,'" he joked. "Are you sure that's about me?" Nevertheless, Josh said he was "very flattered" by the comment, noting of Katy, "We've been very good friends to this day, she's the best."
As for why their relationship didn't end in fireworks, Josh said they simply weren't meant to be. "We were both very private," the 45-year-old explained, "and we realized we were better as friends."
In essence, while their romantic chapter didn't unfold as expected, Katy and Josh have maintained a strong friendship and continue to support each other in their respective endeavors.
