Katy Perry Reveals She Quit Nicotine 2 Months Ago

Katy Perry has bid adieu to nicotine, and she's thrilled about it! The "I Kissed a Girl" singer revealed her recent decision to abstain from all forms of the substance, posting an update on Instagram Stories on March 6th: "Quit all nicotine 2 months ago." Accompanying the message was a photo of a pack of peppermint energy and focus gum, with Katy writing that she "highly" recommends this "more organic" energy alternative.

While the 41-year-old didn't elaborate on the specific nicotine products she used to indulge in, she has been candid about her cigarette habits in the past. However, she did make several changes to her routine while pregnant with her and ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom's 5-year-old daughter Daisy.

"When you stop drinking and smoking and start creating a baby," she shared on the Fifi, Fev & Bryon show in 2020, "it's like your whole body is saying, 'Well, thanks for treating me nice for one day.'" In fact, sobriety was something that she and Orlando focused on together during their relationship, even forming a sober pact before their 2025 breakup.

"For me, it was an opportunity to reset," Katy explained to People in 2023. "We reset after President's Day, and it was a great opportunity to just let my body bounce back a little bit." She added, "I've had a pretty good relationship with just finding balance."

And while the "Teenage Dream" singer—who is currently dating Justin Trudeau—explained she wasn't a big weeknight drinker, she added, "On the weekend I'll indulge a little bit." It was much easier for Katy and Orlando to choose sobriety together at the time, especially because he was trying to keep in top shape while filming in London.

"It's really hard to do anything, whether that's doing a cleanse or a reset, unless your partner's doing it," she explained. "So, doing it together makes it so much easier."

Still, the Grammy nominee didn't "identify with any labels" about her substance habits. Instead, she loved "to have my reset moments" as she balanced the intensity of her career with the energy needed to be a mom.
