Keke Palmer effortlessly picked up where Pete Davidson left off in the Amazon Prime Video comedy, "The Pickup." The actress of "Nope" fame revealed that the comedian's calming presence on set made their steamy sex scene, filmed within the first week of production, a breeze. "First and foremost, he's incredibly sweet," she raved to Entertainment Weekly in an interview released on August 6. "It felt so natural, despite the nudity and everything else involved."
The former Disney Channel star also viewed Pete as a soulmate of sorts, both having "kicked off their acting and performance careers as children." "He started doing stand-up at 12, and I began acting at nine," she elaborated. "Now, in our 30s and working alongside Eddie Murphy, it feels like we're living the moments we've always dreamed of. We were just overjoyed to be there."
Hence, Keke shared that during their downtime in the sex scene, the duo couldn't help but gush over their esteemed costar. "We were like, 'Wow, this is thrilling. Have you met Eddie yet? Have you met Eddie yet?'" she recalled with excitement. "We were just thrilled about that."
For Keke, forging a bond with Pete came naturally. As she put it, "He's quite popular in the female demographic." "I don't know anyone who doesn't have chemistry with Pete," she joked. "Sometimes, you and certain people just click. You might not even converse in everyday life, but when you're on set working together, that undeniable chemistry sparks. And I believe he and I had that."
Furthermore, Keke noted that she and Pete are "two individuals who don't take ourselves too seriously." "This made it enjoyable for us to embrace," she added, "to dive into that quirky romance, which I think we could all use more of."
