Not everything warrants a sequel or a reboot. At least, that's the firm stance of Kirsten Dunst when the topic turns to the cult classic film, *Bring It On*. This high school cheerleading extravaganza recently marked its 25th anniversary. In an era where reviving TV shows and movies has become the norm, with recent reboots and follow-ups such as *Freakier Friday*, *Gossip Girl*, *I Know What You Did Last Summer*, and *Snow White* (just to name a few), Dunst made it clear to *Entertainment Tonight* on Tuesday that she harbors no interest in resurrecting the *Bring It On* franchise.
When questioned about the possibility of a sequel on the horizon and whether it piqued her interest, Dunst responded without hesitation, "No." The *Power of the Dog* actress elaborated, "I'm of the mindset to leave good things as they are." Pressed further on whether taking on a producer role might sway her decision, she firmly declared, "No, no, no. I don't feel the need to slip back into a cheerleading uniform." She mused, "I'm not even sure what role I'd play—maybe a coach or something?"
*Bring It On* chronicles the rivalry and camaraderie between two high school cheerleading squads, the Toros and the Clovers, as they gear up for a national championship. Dunst shines as Torrance Shipman, the spirited captain of the Toros, while Gabrielle Union commands attention as the leader of the Clovers. Despite the franchise spawning numerous sequels in the wake of the 2000 film's success—including *Bring It On Again*, *All or Nothing*, *In It to Win It*, *Fight to the Finish*, *Worldwide #Cheersmack*, and *Cheer or Die*—Dunst has only graced the screen in the original installment.
Interestingly, Dunst's current stance on a reboot stands in stark contrast to her remarks from the previous year. In April 2024, she told *Entertainment Tonight*, "It depends," when probed about the prospect of returning for another *Bring It On*, and added, "As long as it's not cringe-worthy."
