Kodak Black Arrested for Second Time in 8 Days

Published: May 15 2026

On Thursday, May 14th, 28-year-old rapper Kodak Black, whose real name is Bill Kapri, was arrested for the second time in less than two weeks in Florida. The arrest was made on charges of resisting an officer/obstructing without violence and attempting to flee law enforcement, as reported by records from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, which PEOPLE had the opportunity to view. Kapri was taken into the Broward County Jail, with both charges pending trial. His bond was set at $0.

"This is a self-surrender from yet another 'investigation' that just happened to also take 5 months to 'investigate' for allegedly fleeing and alluding," said Kapri's attorney, Bradford Cohen, to TMZ. "It's not unexpected, as this is usually the procedure we go through where there is an unfounded weak arrest and then followed up by yet another arrest for cases that allegedly take 5 or 6 months to investigate." Cohen continued, "At this point, I think everyone agrees that Kodak is consistently being targeted."

PEOPLE reached out to Cohen and the Broward County Sheriff’s Office for comment.

Kapri's previous arrest on May 6th was on a felony charge of trafficking in MDMA, stemming from an alleged incident in Orlando in November. Reports of gunfire outside of the Children’s Safety Village had prompted police to respond, and one of the officers reportedly smelled marijuana from one of the cars parked outside, according to an arrest warrant obtained by PEOPLE. Kapri allegedly approached the officers while they were searching the vehicle, per the affidavit.

The affidavit alleges that officers found a pair of pink scissors on the floor of one of the cars, matching a pair that Kapri had posted a photo of on Instagram a week earlier. It further claims that officers found a ring that police say matches one seen in an Instagram photo posted by Kapri. A gun that appeared similar to one Kapri had posted a photo of on Instagram was also allegedly found in one of the cars, per the affidavit. Police also allegedly found drugs inside one of the vehicles, leading to Kapri's arrest.

Kapri appeared in court on May 7th. He pleaded not guilty and asked for a jury trial, as reported by NBC Miami and the Associated Press. The judge set his bond at $75,000, noting Kapri's 12 previous felony convictions, two misdemeanor convictions, and one failure to appear. Kapri later bonded out, as reported by Click Orlando and Orlando Weekly.
