Christian Pulisic is candidly addressing his breakup with ex-girlfriend Alexa Melton, amidst the backdrop of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Melton had previously accused him of using a dating app, Raya, before their split, an accusation she later clarified as being taken out of context. In a heartfelt interview with Time magazine in February, Pulisic, 27, reflected on his relationship with Melton, a professional golfer.
"I only view her in the most positive light," the AC Milan forward told the magazine. "She was incredibly fun and supported me in every conceivable way. She wanted to encourage me to embrace life more fully and do things with her, and I was truly grateful for that."

The U.S. Men's National Team captain declined to delve further into the specifics of their relationship during the Time interview.
Melton hinted that their breakup occurred on April 6. In response to the comment, "This generational fumble will be studied for years to come," she wrote in a now-deleted comment, "He was already on Raya before it even ended." Raya is an exclusive, invite-only dating app.
In another comment, she added, "Guess not fearing God enough. How many likes for posting his Raya profile?"
However, three days later, Melton retracted her accusations, claiming they were part of a false "narrative."
"I've made some comments on a private matter that's been taken out of context," she wrote in an Instagram Stories post that has since expired. "I received false information. He is not a cheater. Any narrative beyond that is not mine."
"Out of respect for Christian's and my privacy, I will not speak further regarding the matter," she concluded.
Pulisic and Melton began dating in June 2024. In December 2025, Pulisic refuted rumors that he was dating actress Sydney Sweeney, asking people to "stop with the made-up stories about my personal life" in an Instagram Stories post.
