Kris Jenner, unveiling her candid thoughts on the scrutiny she faced for embracing motherhood in her forties, delved into a heartfelt conversation during a recent episode of her daughter Khloé Kardashian's podcast, "Khloé in Wonder Land." At 69, Jenner candidly discussed how her later-in-life pregnancies were viewed as nothing short of "taboo."
The renowned momager, who welcomed her youngest daughters, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, at the ages of 40 and 41 respectively, reminisced about the societal whispers that surrounded her decisions. With six children under her wing, including Kourtney Kardashian, 45, Kim Kardashian, 44, Khloé, 40, and Rob Kardashian, 37, all from her marriage to ex-husband Robert Kardashian, Jenner recounted, "It was almost hush-hush. Like, 'She's 40? And pregnant again? Has she lost her mind?'"
She further elaborated, "Granted, it was medically safe to have babies at that age, but everyone perceived it as fraught with peril. They'd ponder, 'What's really happening? How can she bear a child in her forties? Aren't her fertility days over?' It stirred quite a controversy."
Kardashian then inquired if the relentless criticism had made Jenner feel like her window of opportunity had closed. In response, Jenner shared, "I conceived swiftly but experienced a miscarriage. I had another one shortly before Robert was born, just a couple of months into the pregnancy. Similarly, before conceiving Rob, I had another miscarriage."
Adding more depth to her narrative, Jenner continued, "And another miscarriage preceded Kendall's conception. So, when I got pregnant with Kendall, we were determined, because I vowed, 'This isn't going to defeat me! I'll prove my body wrong!' It felt like a personal challenge to conceive."
Elsewhere in their intimate discussion, the reality TV star confessed to Kardashian that enduring those miscarriages fueled her unwavering determination to try "whatever it took" to conceive again. "I was laser-focused," Jenner revealed. "If I stumbled upon advice like, 'Drink iced tea,' or 'Take Pepto Bismol,' or even recommendations like 'consume three coffees,' I'd embrace any and every suggestion in the hopes of becoming pregnant. I indulged in all sorts of old wives' tales and remedies."
